Gabriel Burchman

Innovative artist Gabriel Burchman paints with rich, earthen colors on top of gold and silver leaf which lends to his paintings their characteristic warmth and luminous antique effect.

Gabriel was born into a family of artists in Laguna Beach, California. Both parents and grandparents were successful artists. He earned a degree in Fine Art from the University of Santa Cruz in 1997 and has been painting professionally ever since. After trying various styles, it was the gold leaf technique he learned from his mother that really captured his focus.

As a surfer, his fascination with water and waves shines through in his subject matter and we are allowed to experience vicariously his deep appreciation for the ocean and the tremendous allure of the waves as seen through his eyes.

Gabriel's work hangs in prominent galleries throughout southern California, at Sargent's Fine Art in Maui, and Tabora Galleries in Honolulu, Hawaii. Prior to April 2008, all of his paintings were originals; however, recent technological advances in the giclee process have enabled Gabriel to make some of his works available as limited edition giclees.
